Members of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s chapter of Alpha Delta Pi (ADPi) participated in Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Greater Chattanooga Annual Phonathon in February. Nationally, ADPi has been serving along side RMHC since 1979.
During the Phonathon, volunteers gathered at Ronald McDonald House to make phone calls to donors to thank them for their previous support and request their continued financial support. ADPi volunteers served as runners for the event; they assisted the callers by filing response cards as well as calling ADPi alumni and affiliates to ask for their financial support.
This year the 4-day campaign raised $92,472.50. These funds will go directly to support families with critically ill children who are guests at Ronald McDonald House and Family Room each year.
The Phonathon is part of an Annual Share a Night Campaign for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga. Share a Night is an opportunity for the community to help sponsor a family’s night stay at Ronald McDonald House. Share a Night contributions are encouraged in $55.00 increments. The funds raised by Phonathon this year will provide 1,680 nights at RMHC for families with seriously ill or injured children.
A new textathon campaign launched during the Phonathon as a way to reach out to new supporters will run until March 31. The textathon campaign encourages the community to text the word “SHARE” to 85944 and reply “Yes” to confirm a $10 donation. Those who donate to the textathon effort will notice a $10 charge on their cell phone bill. A 50 cent fee is deducted from each donation. For more information, visit www.rmhchattanooga.com.
