$40,000 in Scholarships Available for Local High School Seniors through Ronald McDonald House Charities U. S. Scholarship Program

Chattanooga, Tennessee --- Ronald McDonald House Charities offers college scholarships to all high school seniors who demonstrate academic achievement, community involvement, financial need and plan on attending a two or four year college during the next academic year. High school seniors may visit Chattanooga Ronald McDonald House Charities website at www.rmhchattanooga.com to download a scholarship application for the 2010-2011 academic school year.

Students of all backgrounds are eligible to apply for the Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholarships. Ronald McDonald House Charities will award $1,000 scholarships to 40 local high school seniors this year as part of four programs: the RMHC Scholars program; the RMHC/Future Achievers(R) program for African American high school seniors; the RMHC/ASIA program for Asian high school seniors and the RMHC/HACER(R) program for Latino high school seniors.

To apply, students must be high school seniors; be eligible to attend a two- or four-year college or university with a full course of study, reside in a participating local Chapter's geographic area; and submit a completed application and all required documentation by January 28, 2011. Scholarships are jointly funded by grants from the global Ronald McDonald House Charities and the fundraising efforts of local McDonald's owner/operators and corporate staff. Since the program began in 2002, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga has awarded over $300,000 in scholarship funds to high school students who reside in the Tennessee Valley and surrounding areas.
